To The Lighthouse

At any time I am both-

The warm light on the horizon guiding you home

Or the brutal force of the waves, pulling you under.

I always pick a painting to keep from a new series... It's a roadmap of where I have been. They hold more for me than just the skills I have built, they are the places I have lived, where I retreat. My savior, my solace.

I may drift, but she always calls me home.

This week has been a renewal of my love afair with painting. I have tried new things, finished several that were in states of limbo... I just needed rest and fresh eyes.

You are still an artist, even if you aren't actively making or finishing things.

We all need time to breathe.
